What are some strength and weaknesses of using Twitter in the school community?
Pros:
- Excellent source of breaking news and staying informed of the current news.
- Provides a quick and efficient way to disseminate information to students, teachers and the broader school community.
- Schools can use it to engage students in discussions, share educational content and promote extra curricular activities.
- It provides timely update and is a great way to encourage parent engagement in the school community.
- There is a risk sharing information as it can raise privacy concerns and inappropriate content.
- As much as Twitter can be seen as a great asset, it is very time consuming and can be a distraction.
- Due to the overwhelming excessive amount of information, there is a risk of miscommunication or misunderstanding of the important information.
I would create a classroom account to share updates, reminders and resources with not only my students but also the parents as it's a great way to foster communication and collaboration. I also plan on connecting with other educators and find new teaching ideas. I will also encourage my students to share their educational experiences and engage in discussions with their peers as it's a great way to make learning more innovative and fun.
Hi Rohma,
ReplyDeleteI like how you listed pros and cons. I also like how you mentioned it would be great to foster collaboration. I think it is important for parents to be involved in their kids educational journey. I wonder what resources you would be able to use on Twitter to engage students themselves.
